Began as a small pencil drawing done after an Odelon Redon Venus. I transferred the drawing to linen and began applying layers of glazes. As she developed, she wanted to be more an angel than a venus. This of course addresses the dichotomy of our perception of females. She became less sexual and more ethereal. During the years that she came on and off the easel, we had several friends and family pass from this world to the next. This painting came to represent that passage to me. The title comes from a line spoken by Robert Duval's character in the movie 'The Apostle'.
