Welcome to my studio art gallery! I
work from my studio in Willow Grove, PA, USA, which is near Philadelphia.
I paint from imagination as well as from a whole spectrum of visual and
emotional references, always seeking a strong visual impact. I'm
most pleased when my images evoke feelings, memories and associations in
the viewer, and spark the imagination. People see so many things in
my paintings!
I
studied fine art fundamentals at Bucks County Community College and
the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, but my painting technique is
self taught. I used to paint and draw portraits on commission.
Then in 1999 I re-evaluated my artistic direction and returned to Modernism,
the art that is the most exciting and inspiring for me.
Cubism, Futurism, Surrealism; even as a child, they just rocked my
world. I still love great draughtsmanship, it's the very
essence of art (paraphrasing Ingres :) But I require absolute
freedom of creative process with which to use all the formal
elements.
I've shown my abstracts locally
in the Philly/New York area since 2000. I like selling on eBay
because it allows me to stay in my studio, and gives me more
time with my family.
My drawings and paintings are in hundreds of collections
in the USA and Europe. They have also been published as
reproductions in very
interesting ways; most recently in the amazing feature film
Universal
Signs, (universalsignsmovie.com) and on a CD cover for minimalist classical composer
David Hush (hushedition.com).
