"The Beauty of Spring" started out with a very simple composition of four half circles in dark brown, yellow ochre and a little bright yellow. There are big sweeping arcs suggesting the physicality of the artists arm. I surrounded the half circles with white, some blue and a bit of green. When those colors began to interact, I added some highly pigmented rose red. This paint has a different density, and it formed loose circle shapes around itself. Circular motions and arc shapes interact with each other and create little eddies and feathery liquid forms.
It has a light colors and a spring-like feel. The white, rose, green and blue look opalescent in several passages. There are lots of complex, tiny details. It's one of my favorite paintings from 2007.
This is one of my Earth from Space paintings. The paintings in this series all give a feeling of being high above the Earth, looking down on our little planet. When I'm painting them, I feel as if I'm creating rivers, deltas, marshes, deserts, coastlines, mountains.
