Today's painting is titled "Clean Sweep".
There is so much movement sweeping across the four canvases. Bright pinks, greens and yellows cheerfully dominate the central areas, bracketed by deep blue, purple, brown and red at the ends. Areas of turquoise give the impression that we are looking at an aerial view of an azure sea, or looking up at the sky through very colorful glass.

Today's painting is titled "Into the Day". It evolved over a period of time.
I wasn't sure if I'd be using the black outlines, but did decide to go for it and am very happy with the result. When I look at it, I feel the pull of a new day calling a person to venture forth.

Here it is the middle of June already! I've decided to use my blog here on my Weebly website, rather than use my old Blogger blog...I never enjoyed using that program but am very comfortable here. Weebly gives us a very nice blogging platform so I will be making good use of it.
Here is one of my new paintings "Flair for the Dramatic". I wanted to make some smaller paintings for customers who don't have the funds to buy the big ones. This has the feeling of largeness, even though it is small. The sweep of white with dark blues and greens sort of falling out beneath it like dark, rich and complex rain, or some kind of deep mossy forest substance. I really like what is going on in that green and blue area on the bottom, I'll add some closeups. I'll photograph it well so that I'll be able to make large giclees. Here is my page to purchase, or you can go to Etsy. I'm putting a few extra coats of varnish on it just because it is so wonderful.
On a personal note, I've been having an absolutely fantastic year.
I listen to music all the time, it's especially sweet because I spend so much time alone in the studio. One of my great discoveries this year for me has been Rod Stewart's sublime renditions of American popular standards "The Great American Songbook". Like him, I am "fairly addicted" to these songs...to say the least! I'm late to this party, just discovering it this year, and I just can't get enough. The sweetness, the sublime feeling I get from this music makes me think of all of the songwriters and musicians of my parents and grandparents generations who created the original songs, and who are no longer physically present. I can feel their participation in the music from the non-physical perspective, and feel them enjoying these new versions and I believe they thoroughly enjoyed Rod's creations, and the outpouring of good feelings that we listeners can continue to revel in.....
