This is the third in my "Coming Alive" series. We all have times in our lives where we feel less than full force, when we lose our mojo or become depressed. In my experience, there is always an upside to these experiences. It may not be fun while it's happening, but when we find our way out of these dips and feel the life force once again surging through our being and our bodies, well that is the best, my favorite thing. I've had many of these experiences through the years and like to always remember that this is why we have down times, so that we can appreciate being up.
I experimented with some small works and have listed two small vertical painting with an ocean, underwater, sea life theme.

"Sea Life" An abstract fluid, poured expressionist painting with shapes and forms that seem to float like sea life in the ocean. Lots of tiny details. Slight textures in the acrylic paint. 24 inches high, 12 inches wide, 3/4 inches deep. Acrylic on stretched canvas, gallery wrapped, back stapled with the sides painted black. "Points of Reference 2", A highly textured acrylic mixed media painting with a pebbly, sandy surface.
18" high, 24" wide, 1.5" deep gallery wrapped canvas. The textures and the image are continues around the sides of the canvas. Mixed media acrylic painting on 100% cotton canvas. Gallery wrapped, back stapled. Several layers of gloss varnish provide a wonderful surface.

Original abstract painting, "Ethereal Resonance" a fluid, poured painting. Very light and airy with a joyful feeling, like being up in the clouds. Slight textures. Acrylic on canvas, 24" high, 48" wide, 1½ inch deep gallery wrapped canvas. The image is painted around the sides.
An abstract cityscape or landscape painting with a geometric composition and a textured surface. Acrylic mixed media on canvas, 24" high, 48" wide, 1½ inch deep gallery wrapped canvas.
A new original painting "Points of Reference". It's a mixed media piece made with acrylic paint mixed in with acrylic mediums, and other materials. It's got a pebbled surface layered with glazed, scumbled and blended colors. Details in various kinds of colored pencil.
"Victory goes to the tenacious" said a friend to me in an email as I was finishing this painting. Which was interesting because it was not an easy painting to bring to a conclusion. And I couldn't help but notice the giant "V" shape and such an interesting concurrence or parallelism. There are no parallels in the letter V, but many parallels to the concepts of victory and tenacity. So I stuck with it and didn't think it was a particularly great painting until I took it from the painting room to the photography room (they are parallel to each other) where it came to life for me and I felt victorious.
"Summer Tree" One of my geometric textured tree paintings. This painting has slightly different textures in the individual sections, 36x18 inches, acrylic on canvas.
The feelings surrounding the concepts of "coming alive" and "coming back to life" are big in my life. Many of us have periods of time where we feel as if we are not playing on all the piano keys. These are of course not the best of times, but when we are released from these spells, well it's simply glorious. One might almost say it was all worth it. Much love to you all.....
